Tianhe District is home to Guangzhou’s Central Business District (CBD), one of China’s largest. A growing number of service providers have flocked to locate in Tianhe to support Guangzhou’s AIB roadmap. As a result, 95% of Tianhe HQs are in the service sector, and 25% are foreign-funded enterprises. Among the 140 Fortune Global 500 companies reisidng in Tianhe are Zurich Insurance, Bank of America, and JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Over 30 years, the district has emerged from rice fields to become a flagship zone among the emerging Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With Tianhe at its core, Guangzhou and its environs are currently undergoing a major renaissance as a centre for Hi-Tech R&D in biopharma / medical technology, IT / IoT, and advanced professional services.
To orchestrate such a large-scale shift in a region known historically for traditional commerce and the production of electronic parts, the local government has rolled out a number of policies and incentives. Together these guide the development of AIB-aligned zones, investment funds, and tax / recruitment policies to support the establishment and growth of domestic / foreign enterprises in the region.
